We first started working with Takeaway Supplies in 2013. At the time, they wanted help to grow their business online through their existing e-commerce website. Whilst aesthetically the website was holding it’s own, it wasn’t well optimised and this meant that they didn’t get many new visitors and therefore customers.

Who are Takeaway Supplies?

Takeaway Supplies are a UK supplier of ice cream ingredients, packaging and more latterly takeaway, deli and catering packaging. They also sell a range of equipment and offer additional bespoke services to their customers.

A very ambitious and well respected company, Jonathan Susca from Takeaway Supplies could see the opportunity that online would bring to the business, particularly in reaching new customers that perhaps hadn’t come across them before.

They provide products to all sizes of business, from a sole trader with one ice cream van to small chains of ice cream parlours and events and catering companies as well as manufacturers. In fact anyone involved in providing takeaway food products to their customers.

How Digital Marketing made an Impact

Our initial task was to get their existing website in shape. We fixed all the technical issues that were being faced, re-jigged the navigation to make it easier for people to search for products and we also improved layout, call to actions and images. Aside from that we worked on optimising the website for key phrases to ensure that their website was ranking highly in search engines.

The result of this work was an increase in traffic from 456 visitors in Oct 2013 to 4,449 visitors in March 2021. That’s a massive increase in traffic of 875.66%

It’s no wonder they’ve continued to work with us after results like that.

It was this growth that allowed them to invest in a new website late 2019 which we were delighted to develop on their behalf. This has enabled us to create a more modern and fresher looking website. We have been able to add additional functionality and a much more intuitive flow throughout the website.

As well as a standard website design and build, this work also involved:

Migration & Features Added

  1. Migrated to a cloud based server.
  2. Migrated 6 years of historical data on orders and customer details to the new upgraded system.
  3. Since the platform version the site was running on and the new version we were migrating was vastly different, database tables had to be manually modified to suit the new platform. Several data tables were modified and data was manually moved.
  4. Incorporated product brochure download feature.
  5. Implemented feature to view site with and without VAT using a simple toggle switch.
  6. Implemented Chat option.
  7. Reworked and resized more than 2000 product images for better visibility.

Additional SEO work

  1. Improve product naming structure.
  2. Standardize product SKU format.
  3. Improve and format product descriptions.
  4. Rework on website navigation. – Reorganised categories and subcategories

Since the new website was launched in November 2019 sales have increased by 296%

We absolutely love working with Takeaway Supplies, their approach and ambition is infectious and we look forward to continuing to work with them for many years to come.
