Using Calls to Action with your Social Media

Calls to Actions are a great way to get the most out of your posts through social media.  When your conversion rate is low and you are not sure what you are doing wrong then maybe it is time to look at fixing the problem by adding a Call to Action.

First you need to determine what you want to achieve.  Do you want to motivate, inspire or simply attract more followers or do you hope to gain more sales!  You will need to be able to answer the question that all users want to know if they click on your Call to Action, what is in it for me if I commit now! To motivate the user to act it calls for action words to be used.  But what are these action words?  Below I have listed a few of these:

Action words for a Call to Action include words like:

  • Contact me
  • Download
  • Secure your Spot Now
  • Like us on …

Another way to create interest is using words of urgency.  Words where the person feels they may miss out if they don’t act now.  Examples of this include simple terms like:

  • Don’t miss out
  • Today is the Last Day
  • Don’t Panic, but …
  • Free Sample

Words that make the users think that if they don’t act now they will miss out on this amazing opportunity.

If you make the benefits clear to the user your post will stand out amongst the other posts.  People generally want clear, simple instructions.  They like words that they don’t have to think about and almost tell them what they need to do without thinking too much about it!

Keeping in mind that adding a call to action is not an instant fix and you will most probably not convert every time, it simply means that you are enhancing the experience of the person viewing the posting and doing everything possible to help them along in the process.

Don’t forget about Images

Images are still the best way to attract that important initial attention to your posts.  By adding a call to action on or beside an image will give the post the best possible chance of being converted.  If you still find that your conversion rate is low, look at changing some of the words.  Even simple things like changing the word Your to My  eg: Start your …  to Start my …  surprisingly makes a difference.

Don’t be afraid to show some Personality

Showing some personality in your posts or even your headers works well too.  Why not add words like I Love Followers.  Follow me here. This is my favourite … Anything that shows that you are more than just a social media post, that you have a character and might be worth taking the time out to follow.

Colour

Using colour is another great way to make your posts stand out from many others that are posted online.  Their is no set colour that works best but using colours that work well together works best and will always get you a post like at the very least!
